Efficacy of local infiltration analgesia in post-operative pain management following total knee replacement

Background: Post-operative pain and prosthetic joint infections are two crucial impediments in providing a good quality of life after surgery. Aims Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the efficacy local infiltrative anesthesia (LIA) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to study associated complications. Materials Methods: The present was conducted over 2 years. All patients who underwent replacement for degenerative arthritis were considered study. Questionnaire consisted three sections, first section: Demographic profile, second one: Laterality knee, duration surgery, final Consisted evaluation by visual analog score. Pain assessment post-operative period done 3 days (72 h) estimated using analogue score (0–10). Assessment at 6 h, 24 48 72 h surgery during rest movement. Data collected entered analyzed SPSS. Association between different variables Chi-square test/Fishers exact test. Results: Visual 3.4±1.31 h. scale scoring significantly less post-surgery. There no postoperative surgical wound problems any cases clinical signs infection identified end 3-month Conclusion: LIA can be safe effective modality control arthroplasties.
